Closed-Cell EPS Foam Core
Ideal Taper for Water Run-off and Strength

We use thicker closed-cell aquatic grade virgin EPS insulating cores with better R-value and moisture resistance. Some cover makers use cheap 3.5" construction-grade foam or taper down to a flimsy 2" thin-- not a good idea. See Upgrade Options

Zinc-Coated 20 ga. Steel Reinforcement
Not Flimsy Aluminum or Thin Steel

Dual 20-gauge galvanized steel C-channels provide reinforcement across the core to prevent sagging, gaps and heat loss. We know from long experience that heavy-guage steel, although more costly to fabricate, is best.

Caution: Aluminum channels will eventually begin to sag, causing heat loss around the cover's perimeter. Rainwater puddles then form, which causes more sagging. Galvanized steel channel is up to 2.6 times more rigid than aluminum.

Note: All other major cover makers use thinner 22-26 gauge steel, or aluminum.

VaporShield Heat-Sealed Liner
What You Don't See

Our blue VaporShield 604™ liner encases the entire foam core, providing a water infiltration barrier. Maintains the core's R-Value much better than ordinary polyethylene (bread bag plastic) used by other cover manufacturers.

Recommended Double-Wrapped Core - ideal low cost upgrade for double protection from water intrusion, the leading cause of premature hot tub cover failure.

Zippered Access to Insulating Core
Rustproof - Commercial Grade

Two heavy-duty zippers (concealed below the hinge fold) run the full width of each side of DuraTherm covers.  Simply unzip to inspect the core. Our insulating panels are removable, should replacement or cleaning ever be necessary.

Double Ply Matching Handles & Other Details

Two color-matching reinforced double ply top handles are provided with every spa cover, standard.

As shown (right) DuraTherm covers feature a super-reinforced multi-layer cover hinge and specially engineered pads to block heat escape, plus multiple moisture drains.  All standard.

(4) Locking Tie-Down Straps
For Security, Heat Retention & Cover Protection

Four (4) color-matched, reinforced locking tie down straps with latches and key are provided for spa cover security. Warning: Inferior brands have only 2 tie downs, a safety hazard which subjects the cover to wind damage, promotes heat loss, and indicates shoddy craftsmanship.

Skirt & Gussets
The skirt (or apron) is meticulously sewn from two layers of vinyl and will be made long or short as needed (minimum skirt length is 1-1/2") or we can make your cover with no skirt.

High quality DuraTherm covers feature gusseted skirts, as pictured. (Gussets are carefully sewn sectional skirts, which appear as slits in the corners). Skirts made this way hang straighter, fit better, and have less tendency to bunch-up under the cover when setting it on the spa.

Important: Poorly-made covers use one piece continuous skirts without gussets. Requiring less sewing, they're cheaper to manufacture, but have inherent problems. If the skirt folds under the cover it prevents an adequate seal to the spa rim, resulting in wasted energy. Even more important, on hot days sunlight can cause extreme heat build-up under the skirting of covers without gussets, which can damage the spa's acrylic. Avoid hot tub covers without proper gussets.

	Double-Wrapped Foam Core Vapor Shield 604™ Water Barrier x 2 Highly Recommended - Prevents Waterlogged Covers

Adding our optional double VaporShield 604™ heat-seal water barrier can double the longevity of your hot tub cover and help prevent water-logging.
Far superior to ordinary poly liners used by most other hot tub cover makers. Water-logged spa covers have virtually no R-value, so prevention of water intrusion is your best defense for long cover life and energy savings in the long run. In addition, the small dead air space between the two membranes adds even more insulation value (approx. R-2) similar to a double-pane window in your home.

	Full Length Thermal Seal Saves Energy Dollars Highly Recommended - Prevents Heat-loss

An energy-saving upgrade for colder climates or to cut heating costs anywhere.This seal system spans the entire void between the two halves of the spa cover.
Effectively eliminates heat loss through the hinge and reduces spa heating time. Pays for itself by saving energy dollars all year.

	Load Duty 2 lb. Core Higher Strength, Durability, and R-Value (boosts Standard cover to R16.5, Super-Insulated model to R-24)

High Density core provides extra top load bearing for hot tubs used in snow climates, or anywhere higher strength is a plus. You'll also achieve increased heat retention, which may pay for the cost of this upgrade several times over the life of the cover.

This 2 lb. aquatic-grade foam core is stronger to resist cracking or fractures, resists water absorption even better, and enhances the overall life span of a spa cover. A great value. Note: Avoid excessive snow accumulation on any spa cover.

Add the Load-Duty upgrade to our thicker Super-Insulated 5">3" Model for the strongest cover we've ever offered (sometimes referred to as a "walk-on cover" in the industry).

NOTE:  No spa cover should be used as a regular walkway or play area. 5">3" covers with 2# Load-Duty upgrade are generally capable of supporting an average-size stationary adult, but to prevent core damage and vinyl abrasion, it is best to avoid walking or sitting on any spa cover. Excess snow should be removed. Some sellers make exaggerated claims touting outlandish weight loads, but load handling can't honestly be expressed in pounds. We won't play that game, because there are just too many variables in the way weight is distributed across the surface area.
