Shea Butter has been used for centuries in Africa and is completely enmeshed within the history and culture of the West African savanna.

All Alaffia shea butter is handcrafted and unrefined. It does not go through any industrial extraction that involves the use of chemicals and high heat, which remove most of shea butter's beneficial properties. Unrefined natural shea butter has a slight nutty scent and ivory color as compared to the odorless and white refined shea butter.
