I purchase this for our hot tub two generate a saline spa. I am very happy with the ease of this mechanism.
Had now two weeks, Its an amazing little machine, which I converted my inflatable chlorine spa to salt water with. It was perfectly balanced when I began as recommended, and took a few days to adjust salt and chlorine. My tub is between 2-250 gallons and took five lbs. I used Bokek salt as I read the Nexa Dead Sea with Minerals doesnt always work well with the conversion. I hang it over a large noodle to get away from wall and about 5"" from bottom. Averages 4 hrs day making chlorine, based on use and how long its uncovered. I no longer smell like chlorine after using spa and my skin isnt as dry. Has not needed any more chemicals, not even ph +/-. I have excema and mikd asthma. This is waaay better.
The unit itself is straightforward. I wish the electric cord was longer and the Chlorinator cord shorter. Instructions were pretty good. I had lots of trial and error with getting the right amount of salt and initial amount of base chlorine before getting started (since it was a brand new, empty hot tub). I'd stress the importance of having a base level of chlorine in the spa first (and how to do that, tablets? shock?). I had to experiment a few times and at one point thought I had a defective unit. So, bottom line, instructions for beginners is paramount, the more detail and instruction the better.
We have had ours for almost a year now and we absolutely love it! Before we got our Saltron mini I was dumping so many chemicals and time into keeping my water clear and still I was changing my water often. Now that we have had this system I hardly do anything to it and have beautiful clear water all the time. I highly recommend this to anyone with a spa it will save you not only time but also money.
Oh so much easier than all the chemicals we previously had to use on our hot tub. Easy as heck to keep the chlorine and PH perfect with the Mini Saltron.
The bromine system in my hot tub stopped working. I bought this and it works great. It was very easy to set up and use. I started using a portable water softener to fill the spa. Between that and the salt system the water feels great!
Hooked it up and is working great just like the other one did for the 11 years.
The first citron mini I bought was in 2018. It was flawless and perfect until two weeks ago. So I ordered another one.
Spa Depot was able to deliver this the very next day after ordering. That just doesn’t happen where I live because it’s a rural area. When it arrived I read the instructions which explained everything. It was very easy to install and program. The best part is the chlorine levels are perfect but I get the benefit of a salt spa. My skin is much happier. I wanted to use my hot tub spa as a way to do cartilage repair using mineral water therapy. This salinater has made that possible. I highly recommend this product. I found out about this product from my daughter who also has one and really likes it.
It’s only been running for a week but it was easy to set up and so far everything is perfect! I think I’m going to love this new system!
Can't believe that it shipped to Canada I'm 2 days.
Slightly confusing instructions, but all good if you take the time to break them down and re-read a couple times. The water is softer and clear with no chemical smell at all.
I've already recommended to a couple friends.
I replaced my 5 years old system by a new one, working good!
Easy and fast !
We bought our 1st Saltron Mini probably 10 years ago. In that time I have replaced the salt cell 2-3 times. Finally had to buy a new system when a diode or transistor burned out. I’d say that is very good service from it from 10 years use. The replacement salt cells are a fraction of the cost and easy to replace compared to built in OEM systems on other Hot Tubs. The shipping to Canada was quick and very reasonable. I do have to say the price has increased a lot on the salt cells and the whole system since buying the 1st one. Some of the increase could be the US $ exchange rate. I’ve recommended this system to others and bought two for people I know. Very good overall.
Replaced the timing saltiness unit after 3 years of daily function. Opened the unit to find a "blown" capacitor detached from wherever it had been sodered in place. Introducing a surge protector and reset button on the unit might lengthen its life usefulness. Just a suggestion. We are very happy with the device functionality
After dealing with frequent chemical adjustments for decades with various hot tubs, I made the decision to try the Salton mini salt water system. That was 2 years ago. After a couple of short weeks of dialing it in, I'm able to leave the house for weeks at a time and come back to perfectly balanced water, ready to enjoy.
We have another tub being delivered to our vacation home next month and the first thing I did was order this second one for that location!
If you're looking for a low-chemical, low maintenance solution, there's no better decision than ordering up a Salton mini.

Had it about a week, easy to use, no problems so far
Thanks to Garth at spa depot for taking time to answer my questions!!
Product is 100% as advertised. Easy to install and get water balanced. Only Took 2 days to get right chemistry. Have had salt pool so used Garth’s knowledge and my experience. Started with a fresh filled spa and used chlorine to get optimum level before using the mini.
The higher the temperature the quicker chlorine burns out which means you’ll need more time than the 5 hour default but not more salt.
100% recommended product and spa depot service!!
Great product and great service
SALT CORRODES METAL. Couldn’t figure out why my heaters were suddenly lasting only 6 months. When I called the company they said you shouldn’t use this system on a hot tub that has metal components ( stainless is metal) to my knowledge most hot tubs have heaters. Most, of joy all heaters are metal. Too bad they don’t tell you. Three heaters later I figured it out. Out a ton of money and can’t return it now. Don’t make the same mistake
Thanks for writing, and I'm sorry you had a bad experience with the Saltron Mini. When used within the manufacturer's guidelines, metal components do not corrode. The primary causes of corrosion when using this system are excess water salinity (too much salt), and excess chlorine generation. We'd love the opportunity to help you set this system up to work in your hot tub. Give us a call and we'll happily go into more detail.
I am so mad that I didn't do this much sooner. Changing to salt and away from straight clorine has never been easier. A simple summation of the instructions. Fill your tub and balance the water. Then add your pool salt. Morton's pool salt for me. I had to use 6 lb of salt to get the right ppm in my HS Aria. (Get the AquaChek salt white strips for that) Drop in your Saltron Mini and turn it on. Initial setting on the Mini was 5 hours. Chlorine was low, so I had to bump up to 6. My water has been perfect for 2 weeks now. It feels so much softer and I don't itch at night. The big thing is that my wife is much happier with it! Couldn't be happier!
We have never been happier with our spot! Great product easy to install easy to use
Product arrived timely. Installation was easy and operation is straightforward. So far it is keeping a perfect chlorine level. I am using it with a 300Gallon inflatable hot tub on a setting of 3 hours run time. It was a little pricy but seems like a great product from SpaDepot #sweepstakes
We have a 240 gallon hot tub and couldn't seem to get the chemical balance correct using chlorine. Switched over to this and it's been great, our skin no longer breaks out and our eyes don't burn. It took a full 5 lbs of salt initially. We've been using it now for about a month and I haven't had to add more salt yet. So much easier, I was starting to regret getting the hot tub altogether but now that we switched it, we use it multiple times per week, currently as a cooling tub since it's been so hot out.
My second unit. First one was over 10 years old and did well. Even sitting in the snow.
I recently converted to the salt system. Spa Depot customer service was super helpful talking me through the set up.
Easy to install. Worked right away. Been running for 3 months no issues keeping chlorine levels where I want them. Not had to adjust after the initial set up.
The good = The setup was very easy, mainly plug and play. I have an 8 person tub and the 5#'s of salt was not enough. Once I got the salt level correct I only have to watch the PH level. Tub is always clear, not smells and stays Chor levels correctly. The Medium = We are not heavy users during the week so he levels drop on Sunday but by the next weekend all is balanced back fully. I turned it up once and forgot and over loaded the CHor in tub. Took a while to balance back down. The Bad= Because I have to be fair, power cord is a little too short. With the chor box cord being long we could mount the control farther away.
